LearningDITA: What’s new and what’s next

You asked and we delivered—LearningDITA.com now offers certificates for completing each of the courses. All you have to do is click the “Print Your Certificate” button at the end of a course, and you’ll have instant proof of when you finished it.

Certificates are offered on an individual, per-course basis and will be available for all future courses. If you’ve already completed a course, you can go back for your certificate by following the instructions on the LearningDITA site.

The new certificate feature may be especially helpful if you’re using LearningDITA on the job as an introductory DITA training tool. You now have a quick and easy way to track your progress on the site for your manager.

Now that we’ve rolled out the certificate feature, we’re looking ahead to the other exciting things we have planned for LearningDITA this year.

Our first new course of 2017 will be an introduction to publishing outputs from DITA source files. You’ll learn how to choose the best publishing environment for your workflow and turn your DITA content into tangible output formats, such as PDF and HTML. Keep an eye out for this course in early spring!

We also have several other course ideas on our roadmap, including:

  • What’s new in DITA 1.3
  • DITA content management
  • Specialization
  • Metadata/subject scheme
  • Learning content in DITA
  • Localization
  • Documenting an API/XML schema using DITA

As always, we welcome your ideas about what you’d like to see on LearningDITA. If you have an idea for a course or would like to contribute course material, drop us a line or add them to the GitHub repository.

LearningDITA is now available in German at LearningDITA.de, and there are several other translations in the works. If you’d like to volunteer to translate LearningDITA into your local language, contact us and we’ll help you get started.

We look forward to the exciting new developments coming for LearningDITA! Sign up for LearningDITA announcements to keep an eye on future courses, translations, and more.
