DocFrame 3.0 Coming Soon

We're in the process of updating our DocFrame solution to make it even easier to create XML, HTML, HTML Help, and JavaHelp from structured FrameMaker content.

Planned upgrades include:

  • XSL transformation that uses the integrated XSL capabilities in FrameMaker 7.2—you create HTML, HTML Help, and JavaHelp output with new DocFrame commands in FrameMaker instead of running XML output through an external XSL processor.
  • New formatting template that uses default system fonts—you get print- and PDF-ready documents without the expense of purchasing additional fonts.
  • Fully downloadable package from our online store—you get everything you need (including templates, documentation, and FrameMaker workbooks) as a download without shipping costs or delays.

As with all versions of DocFrame, you get a structure well-suited to technical manuals, excellent documentation that clearly explains how to create and customize all forms of output, and support via phone or email. You can create structured documentation and online outputs in minutes, not months.

For more information about DocFrame, contact sales@scriptorium.com. Watch future issues of Illuminations for the release date. We'll be demonstrating DocFrame 3.0 at the WritersUA conference (more on the conference in a later story).

Spring Schedule: Classroom and Web-Based Training

We've got a full schedule this spring for both classroom- and web-based training:

Classroom:

Web-based:

You can review our complete 2006 schedule and register for classes in our online store.

If you have questions about the difference between classes taught in the classroom and over the web, read our training options summary (or contact training@scriptorium.com).

For those who prefer to learn FrameMaker at their own pace, we also offer our FrameMaker 7 Workbook Series. You can download the workbooks from our online store for $49.95 each. You get the workbook in PDF format, exercise files, and access to video clips that explain the FrameMaker interface.

TrackAccess Webcasts

Our TrackAccess webcasts offer you conference-quality presentations at the comfort of your own desk. TrackAccess continues this spring with the following webcasts:

We've also scheduled more webcasts for the rest of 2006.

Each webcast is only $19.95. Register soon; we limit the number of participants to ensure attendees can ask questions. To participate, you need a web browser with Flash and the ability to play audio on your computer through speakers or headphones. Attendees ask questions through a chat interface.

WritersUA Conference: Register Soon to Get Final Discounts

If you're planning on attending the WritersUA conference in Palm Springs, California, on April 9–12, be sure to register by March 4. That's the last day for standard registration; prices go up $100 on March 5. As in years past, this conference will feature excellent presenters and interesting topics.

At the conference, Sarah O’Keefe will offer presentations on two XSL-related topics:

We will have a booth in the exhibition hall. Stop by and see a demo of our DocFrame solution on FrameMaker 7.2. Hope to see you there!
