Announcing DocFrame.de

DocFrame is going global!

The DocFrame single-sourcing solution is now available in a German version: DocFrame.de. Marcus Bollenbach of COMPUtrain and Michael Müller-Hillebrand of cap studio have localized the FrameMaker structure and formatting templates, read/write rules, and XSL transformations for German audiences. The DocFrame.de package also includes support and training. See www.docframe.de (which is in German) for more information.

Back in the U.S., we've extended our special pricing on the English version of DocFrame Developer: you can buy it for $995 ($500 off the list price of $1495). Support and maintenance are free for one year with this introductory offer. For more information, see the pricing page, or contact Matthew Arnold at +919-481-2701, ext. 105.

DocFrame Author is priced at $499 and is available in specially priced five- and ten-license packages. For more information, see the pricing page.

We hope to see you July 25–26 at the first Tri-XML Conference in Research Triangle Park, NC. We'll have a booth in the exhibition hall. Drop by if you'd like a demo of the DocFrame solution.

Coming Soon: Second Edition of Technical Writing 101

Since we released Technical Writing 101 three years ago, there have been quite a few developments in technical publishing. To be sure prospective technical writers have the latest information, we will release an updated edition of Technical Writing 101 during the summer. This edition features the latest information on single sourcing and a new chapter on how structured authoring and Extensible Markup Language (XML) affect technical writers.

The updated version is 288 pages, which is 24 pages longer than the first edition. You can take a sneak peek at the second edition by checking out the table of contents (PDF,126K).

If you're an instructor who adopted the first edition as a textbook, contact us to request an evaluation copy of the new edition. Instructors who have not used Technical Writing 101 before can also request a review copy.

FrameUsers Conference

Sarah O'Keefe is giving two presentations at the FrameUsers Conference in October in Palm Beach, Florida. We also will have a booth in the exhibit hall. Hope to see you there!

We'll post more information about the conference in future editions of Illuminations.
