Download Publishing Fundamentals: FrameMaker 7 |
|
Need instant access to a good FrameMaker 7 reference? Well, we've just released our Publishing Fundamentals: FrameMaker 7 book in PDF format. You can download it in minutes from our shopping cart for $39.99 (which is $20 off the cost of the printed version).
The PDF file has no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions, so your PDF file is not tied to a particular computer, and you can print the content you need. Because we have opted not to place DRM restrictions on the file, we ask for your help in ensuring the PDF file is not redistributed.
If you buy the PDF version of Publishing Fundamentals: FrameMaker 7 today, we will give you a coupon code for $20 off the updated version for FrameMaker 8, which we're working on right now. This is a limited-time offer: as soon as the update is published, we will no longer offer the coupon code. See the next story for more information about the update. |

So Big, We Split
It into Two Books! |
|
Our upcoming FrameMaker 8 reference will be so big, we are splitting it into two volumes!
The binding for Publishing Fundamentals: FrameMaker 7 pushed the edge of what our printer can handle; in fact, we had to use a slightly thinner paper to publish that book. We are adding even more information to the book for FrameMaker 8, so it made sense for us to break the book up: the first volume will focus on unstructured FrameMaker, and the second one will focus on structured FrameMaker.
We plan to release the first volume by the end of the year. To get the latest information on the updates, send email to books@scriptorium.com. (There is no obligation to purchase if you contact us.) We will send you status updates via email. After we establish the release dates (to be determined), we will send you a coupon code for preordering at a 15-percent discount. (Sorry, but you can't combine the 15-percent code and the code for $20 off.)
If you're interested in FrameMaker 8, check out our blog, Palimpsest, for the latest news and a review. |

Conference
Countdown |
|
This fall, we are attending a few conferences. First, Sarah O'Keefe, Matt Arnold, and Alan Pringle will attend DocTrain East 2007, which will be October 16–20 in Lowell, MA. Sarah is offering a preconference workshop, Migrating from Unstructured to Structured FrameMaker, and a presentation, Extreme Versioning: Delivering Customized Documentation Via XML. Matt and Alan will be at our booth in the exhibition hall. Be sure to drop by the booth to pick up some chocolate goodies.
After DocTrain, the next stop on the trade show circuit is Wiesbaden, Germany, for tcworld 2007 on November 7 and 8. Look for Matt and Sarah at the Big Owl in the exhibition hall. Sarah is doing a couple of presentations, Assessing DITA as a Foundation for XML Implementation and Comparing DITA Authoring in FrameMaker and XMetaL. Sarah has just published an article about FrameMaker and XMetaL in the conference newsletter.
If you'd like to schedule a meeting with Matt or Sarah during the week of the tcworld conference, please contact sales@scriptorium.com. We can schedule meetings in Wiesbaden during the conference or elsewhere in Europe on November 5 and 6. |
