What's new with training?

Lots of news on the training front this month:

First, congratulations to Lead Technical Trainer Rose Britton for earning the ACE logo designation. She is our third Adobe-certified FrameMaker instructor--but Rose had the highest score (97 percent) of them all!

Besides ACEing the exam (sorry), Rose has been hard at work developing new classes. In early November, we'll offer our new Advanced FrameMaker course for the first time. This class will cover template design, modular text, hypertext, and other advanced topics. If you are an intermediate FrameMaker user who knows all the basics, this class is for you. Rose has unearthed some information that will be news to even seasoned users.

We're also offering Accelerated Introduction to FrameMaker and WebWorks Publisher courses in November. For specific dates, pricing and discounts, and registration deadlines, see our training web page.

We're now accepting credit cards to pay for training classes! We'll post details in the next few weeks; call us if you'd like to use this option for a class.

To register for the courses, go to our registration form. Students taking our WebWorks Publisher classes can purchase the software from Quadralay at a 20 percent discount.

We're moving!

We're heading off to new digs in RTP next month. Our new office in Morrisville includes our very own training classroom, and we plan to increase our training schedule to take advantage of it. The new classroom and increased office space will help us to continue offering top-notch training and documentation services.

Our phone number and post office box address will not change. Effective October 25, our new physical address will be:

106 Pheasant Wood Court
Morrisville, NC 27560

Our email addresses and web site will remain the same, but we do expect to change our fax number. We'll post the new number to our web site shortly.

Training survey

Thanks to all the folks who filled out our training survey. We appreciate your input and have incorporated your responses into the curriculum of the new Advanced FrameMaker course. Our Advanced WebWorks Publisher course, coming in early 2000, is also going to be based on feedback from the survey.

Congratulations to Julia Schelly, who won the random drawing for $250 off any Scriptorium Publishing training class.

Converting word processing docs to FrameMaker?

Converting documents from word processing software to a desktop publishing package can be pretty unpleasant. But with some planning and a solid template, you can minimize conversion problems, as our white paper about converting to FrameMaker explains.

Conference update

The frameusers conference in Minneapolis is coming up shortly. Sarah O'Keefe and Sheila Loring will present on single sourcing and using WebWorks Publisher for single sourcing.

In November, Sarah will present at Help '99 in Dallas. Her topic there is advanced tips and tricks for WebWorks Publisher users. For those of you interested in WebWorks Publisher, there will be a "tracklet" on the product at Help '99; at least four presentations are scheduled.

We hope to see you at one or both!
