Free FrameMaker Update in November—Direct from Adobe!

To give you latest information on FrameMaker 7.2, we're hosting two free webcasts. You can attend online from the comfort of your office or home, or you can join the live studio audience in our office in Cary, NC.

On Friday, November 4, 2005, at 11 a.m. Eastern time, Sarah O'Keefe will deliver a FrameMaker 7.2 demo. You'll have an opportunity to see the latest version of FrameMaker up and running.

On Thursday, November 10, 2005 (note new date), at 11 a.m. Eastern time, we will host a webcast with the FrameMaker product management team. We're expecting the team members here in our office for this webcast, so those of you in the Research Triangle Park area can talk to them in person. The team will discuss Adobe's vision for FrameMaker's future and take your questions.

Interested in attending? The webcasts are free, but registration through our online store is required. There are separate registration choices for attending the webcasts online or in person.

You can send in questions ahead of time with your registration (just type them in the Special Notes field when you check out), or you can ask questions through live chat during the webcast. We have a limited number of seats for online and in-person attendees, so register soon!

Can't Wait Until November for FrameMaker News?

If you want to know more about the new features in FrameMaker 7.2 but can't attend our webcasts, check out the review Sarah O'Keefe wrote at the request of the STC UK chapter; Firefox users should use this link.

Also, as part of the rollout for version 7.2, Adobe Systems has posted a white paper— written by Scriptorium staff—about the process of converting unstructured FrameMaker content into structured content: Unstructured to Structured Migration Guide (PDF, 963K).

Solution Brief: Automating Conversion to Structured FrameMaker

Applying structure to a library of unstructured FrameMaker content can be a daunting (and arduous) task. To automate large portions of a client's conversion process, we implemented FrameScript scripts that boosted the efficiency of the conversion by 70 percent.

Read our latest solution brief (PDF, 47K), for more details about how scripting streamlined and improved the efficiency of our client's conversion process.

Back from Hawaii: LavaCon Wrap-Up

Sarah O'Keefe and Matt Arnold have returned from Hawaii, where they attended this year's LavaCon conference. Sarah and Matt enjoyed the opening reception (free drinks!), staying in the hotel shown in the opening of Hawaii Five-O, eating free chocolate at the closing event...and meeting conference-goers, of course! They also managed to squeeze in two presentations and a panel discussion on the future of help authoring.

The conference offered an excellent opportunity to look ahead at changing publishing requirements. We look forward to returning next year.

If you didn't get to attend Sarah O'Keefe's two presentations, you can download PDF versions of her presentation slides:
