Advanced Unstructured FrameMaker: Template Design

During this class, you will build a FrameMaker template by adding master pages, paragraph and character tags, table tags, and other formats to a default FrameMaker document. You will add and implement color, and incorporate time-saving features (such as automatic running headers and footers) to boost the productivity of the writers using your template. You will also create companion templates for tables of contents and indexes.

Note: There are few differences in the unstructured interfaces of versions 7 and 8.

Prerequisites

This course is for individuals who meet the following prerequisites:

Intermediate knowledge of FrameMaker (or completion of Scriptorium Publishing's Unstructured FrameMaker: Accelerated Introduction class)

Actively using the current release of FrameMaker

*

Preparing to develop or extensively revise FrameMaker templates, or preparing to use advanced features such as modular text and hypertext linking

Each student receives a copy of the Advanced Unstructured FrameMaker: Template Design Workbook in PDF format.

Customizing this class

We can customize this class to meet the needs of your project team and deliver it as a private class at your location or over the web. For example, we can use your corporate template in the examples and exercises and include a discussion of single-sourcing considerations for generating different types of output, such as printed documentation, PDF files, online help, or web pages.

Generally, you should request a customized class at least 6 weeks in advance, although occasionally we can deliver custom classes sooner, depending on instructor availability.
