This class shows you how to plan and design a structured template, or element definition document (EDD). First, you’ll learn about document analysis and its critical role in the EDD creation process, and then you’ll start creating an EDD and adding new elements to it. You’ll define container elements, and you’ll add elements for document components such as footnotes, cross-references, and graphics. You’ll also implement general rules, set up inclusions/exclusions and automatic insertion of children, add formatting to the EDD, and add prefixes and suffixes to elements.

Participants receive a PDF workbook with hands-on exercises and links to animated screen shots with voice-overs.

Prerequisites: FM101: Accelerated Introduction to FrameMaker, FM102: Template Design, FM201: Introduction to Authoring, and XML101: XML and Structured Authoring or equivalent
