Woody Pewitt of Microsoft presents on the new Office components this morning. I inquired about the point of the new XPS format, which is clearly targeted at replacing PDF. Money quote:
“The difference between XPS and PDF is that Microsoft has produced an open format and will never sue you for using it, whereas Adobe could, at any time, decide to sue people for creating PDF.”
Textbook application of FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) principle.
Impressive.
