2012 resolution: Explore the frontiers of tech comm with Scriptorium

Our 2012 event schedule is starting to come together. Our guest speaker lineup includes Char James-Tanny, Peter Lubbers, and Sarah Maddox, with more to be announced.

This year, we are changing our conference schedule somewhat. I am looking forward to participating in Intelligent Content for the first time, and Simon is going around the world for tcworld India.

The webcasting year kicks off with a session on content strategy in technical communication on January 19, 2012. This is a new presentation that I first delivered at LavaCon.

January 31, 2012: Char James-Tanny and I will discuss trends in technical communication for 2012. Our trends session is always popular, and Char is a fabulous speaker who really understands this industry.

In February, we welcome Peter Lubbers for a session on HTML5 and its impact on technical communication (February 15). Simon and I criss-cross the world for tcworld India and Intelligent Content, respectively, during the week of February 22. Simon will be presenting on content strategy, structured authoring, and managing the transition to XML. My session at Intelligent Content is called Down the Rabbit Hole: Getting Started with the DITA Open Toolkit. (If you’d like to attend Intelligent Content, contact me. We have a few discounted tickets available.) Scriptorium is also a sponsor and will participate in the trade show.

February 28, IXIASOFT joins us for our very first vendor demo webcast. For these events, we are giving the floor to tool vendors. We are working on about half a dozen vendor demos for 2012.

In March, we’ll travel to Memphis forĀ WritersUA. Simon and I are presenting on various aspects of DITA output.

April is full of more webcasts. Join us for our second vendor demo with easyDITA on April 3.

Simon will discuss how to manage theĀ transition to XML on April 12.

Sarah Maddox offers a hands-on demo of Confluence wiki on April 26.

Watch our events page for more updates, and sign up as new webcasts are announced.

We hope to see you at these or other events coming up this year. Please take a look at our 2012 schedule and sign up for the webcasts that interest you. And if you’re attending Intelligent Content, tcworld India, or WritersUA, please come by and say hello.
